Second Meeting Update
Hey Habitaters! We had an amazing turnout at our meeting. Beau, the Athens Area Habitat for Humanity Construction manager, honored us with his presence. He talked about his experiences building houses for Habitat and answered questions from our members. Then, Lee Ellen asked some trivia questions and those who gave correct answers received a Habitat shirt. We had a lot to discuss in terms of events we have this semester and it's great to see that we will have a lot of help with all the fundraisers. I'll just include a few of our upcoming events, come to our meetings to learn more of what is going on in Habi-world. Our first fundraiser is at the end of the month- Trivia Night at the Tavern (downtown). Email Shannon Chen (see our officer's link) if you are interested in participating. It's a great opportunity to hang out with friends and support Habitat at the same time. Also if you are a freshman or sophomore, you are encouraged to apply for our Habitat Ambassador Program. Contact Adam Thomas if you are interested- interviews are this coming week! Our ambassadors go to other clubs and inform them about Habitat for Humanity's goals and objectives. It's a great way to advocate and educate the rest of UGA. Lastly, we need all hands on deck to recruit sponsors for our 8th annual Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk. If you are interested in talking to Athens Area businesses, please contact Christina Faust. As always, it is great to be working with people like you- keep up the good work everyone!
