New Beginnings

Hi Habitaters!

Our semester is off to a great start! But we can't forget all the great events of last semester that have helped to bring us to our current achievements.

First off, UGA Habitat received an anonymous donation of $10,000 last fall semester!! This donation was a huge surprise and has helped us achieve so much through our events and fundraisers, providing even more support toward gaining the $62,000 needed to build our 10th home in the Athens Community!

Moreover, our annual Giftwrapping Across Georgia fundraiser was successful again this year. Working in Barnes & Noble, Border, and Best Buy stores around the state, UGA Habitat earned $17,000 from the hard work and dedication of UGA Habitat board members, general members, and volunteers. Thank you to everyone who made this year's fundraiser a huge success!

Our events for this spring semester started off with the 1st Annual Faculty Talent Show! This event was also the last event for the 2007 UGA Habitat Executive Board. All of the acts provided great entertainment for the audience, and it provided an opportunity for UGA Habitat to connect with the Athens community.

The 2008 UGA Habitat Executive Board will be taking over this magnificent organization effective Feb. 4, 2008. The new executive board is:

Ashley Doliber and Farrah Keong, Co-Presidents
Jessica Bolfik, VP of Advocacy and Education
Sheena Zhang, VP of Community Outreach
Camille Evans, VP of Public Relations
Stephen Dorner, VP of Campus Outreach
Wei Wang, VP of Projects
Melanie Phelps, Administrative Sec.
Trisstar Oliver, Financial Secretary
Calley Mersmann and Sarah Thomas, Recycling Co-Chairs
Ashley Bolfik, Special Projects Chair
Rachel Spencer, Development Officer
Brian Gardner, Webmaster
Tracy Yang, Historian

We would like to thank the 2007 UGA Habitat for Humanity Executive Board for a wonderful year! And, as always, UGA Habitat would like to give a huge thank you to all of the members, volunters, patrons and donors! We look forward to a very fruitful spring semester!
